Plain chains are built for PVC, and this version adds a Croco drill head at the front. The drill head bores through the obstruction first, then the chains clean the pipe wall behind it. That combination makes it the right tool when you're dealing with something solid in a PVC pipe: compacted roots, heavy grease buildup, or failed liner material that a chain alone would stall against. If you're working in metal or ceramic pipes instead, take a look at the Drill Headed X-Tip Chain or Drill Headed Croco Chain.
The Croco head cuts forward without aggressive contact with the pipe wall, which keeps it safe for plastic even when the obstruction needs real force. Drill head diameter is 16mm (⅝″) on 6mm (¼″) and 8mm (⁵⁄₁₆″) shaft versions, and 20mm (25/32″) on 10mm (⅜″) and 12mm (½″) shaft versions.
It comes in light and heavy variants. The light version uses 3.5mm links, covers DN50 (2″) through DN150 (6″), and runs on 6mm (¼″) through 12mm (½″) shafts. The heavy version uses 4mm links, covers DN75 (3″) through DN200 (8″), and runs on 8mm (⁵⁄₁₆″) through 12mm (½″) shafts. If you have a high-torque machine, the heavy variant makes better use of what the setup can deliver.
If you already have standard plain chains and a separate milling head, you can get the same result without buying dedicated drill-headed chains. The drill-headed version is mainly about having one tool do both jobs in a single pass.
